At Marwood, our kiln is usually filled with live edge hardwood slabs and wood turning chunks drying out in preparation to be sold. We kiln dry all of our hardwood products on-site at the Marwood facility in Jeffersonville, IN.
The wood dries for woodworking to help prevent warping and splitting to any slabs that have the potential to be utilized in projects. Most woods need to have a balanced wood to water relationship. In order for wood to achieve that balance, it will absorb moisture from the air to increase the amount of water to wood. Or desorb it to increase the amount of wood to water. By kiln-drying the wood at Marwood for live edge hardwood slabs, we are able to control the environment in which wood reaches that balance. This process prevents damage to the wood.
Kiln-drying is a crucial part of the hardwood production process. The crew works meticulously to ensure that each hardwood slab is crafted with perfection. Quality is Marwood’s #1 priority for customer satisfaction, our on-site kiln helps us to achieve the best quality possible.
